VENUE SPOTLIGHT: Healey Barn, Northumberland

I remember being shown photos of the original Healey Barn before renovation and the first weddings in 2015. Seriously, you would not believe the transformation, although the essence of the building is the same, the way the green oak timber beams have been cut to fit is remarkable. And even now, the Cripps Barn group are expanding further and have since developed near by Healey Hall so you and your guests have somewhere close-by to stay. It's about a mile away and is a beautiful country hall with 17 bedrooms, sleeping 34 people.

The 18th century Barn itself has a beautiful vaulted ceremony room that requires little decoration, except possibly for the chairs. Local florists can create the most stunning flower balls that hang on winches above the isle, I would definitely recommend this as it really does look spectacular. Again, over the fire place really looks stunning with flowers.

In the dining room, the room itself is long and fairly narrow. However, there is enough space to seat 144 for dinner and upto 200 for drinks and partying. Cooked over the open flames of our barbecues, rotisserie and wood oven, food is freshly prepared using the finest ingredients and served generously. The courtyard is a beautiful place to relax and chill around the fire pits and there is plenty of space for the children to run around outside.

I've seen the dining room laid out in various ways, whether it's a long table like Hogwarts, or individual rounds. The staff are very accommodating and can help you plan your day depending no your wedding party number.

The beams look stunning draped in our bunting. We've had so many different colours and designs, but I feel that either our gold or silver sequin, rose pinks and our hessian bunting work really well against the Northumbrian stone and oak beams. However, you can be completely BOLD and do whatever you want! We work closely with florists and stylists to make sure that the whole scheme comes together. We can also create personalised bunting for the top table or the cake, and this is something you can keep and have forever. It's such a nice way to remind you of your special day.

This has to be one of my favourites.... a Star Wars themed wedding with full fabric drapes of Storm Troopers. I absolutely loved designing this one.

I also loved this bright rainbow wedding for Chelsea & Gary, which featured in Your North East magazine.

With recent news that the Government is planning to allow weddings without any restrictions of numbers from 21st June, we can start planning and getting weddings back on the agenda. We have certainly missed it, as I'm sure you have.
